Journal - Where are you right now on your "Who Do You Think You Are" project? What did you do over the break for the project? Did you interview anyone? Use the checklist below to figure out what you have finished, what you are still working on and what you still have to do.

So far I have completed my family tree. I have created a prezi, all i have left to do on that is add pictures. I interviewed both of my grandmas. The info graph I have not really started, because I did not have any photos, but now I do.

Top 3 stop motion animation

1. Megan Hamilton
Her idea was a dog falls off a slide, and breaks her leg, then she gets it fixed up.
This is my favorite, because there is so much going on. Someone is going down the slide, someone is swinging, and theirs animals walking around.

2. Dana Ordejans
Her idea was to place sticky notes on a wall.
This is my second choice because it is very cool. It looks like a dance floor.

3. Ian Whelan
His idea was legos arming a jet.
He is my third choice because he moves everything, including the legs, and is not just pushing them.

Journal - How did you stop motion animation turn out? If you could give it a grade, what would you give it out of 60 points? What did you learn from creating this video?

My stop motion animation turned out well. I am mad though, because my original movie, was destroyed, so I had to go to plan B. The only part that I did not like about my stop motion is that the camera moves a lot. I would give myself 50 out of 60 points on this project.

Journal - How far along are you on your stop motion animation? What did you do over the weekend to work on you stop motion animation? Do you have all your pictures today? Will you have all your pictures by the end of the hour? Give me a detailed updated.

Over the weekend, I started on my stop motion animation. My first idea was to have blocks build themselves. It was very cool. I was making a castle, but then I needed to be somewhere. When I got back the castle was destroyed, so then I went to my back up plan, and showed ice melting. Today my photos will be uploaded.

Journal - What story will your storyboard tell? Explain in detail.

My story starts with me filling a red bowl with water. Then the next photo shows me placing the bowl on the ceiling, with a broom, next my sister walks in, and I am pointing at the bowl, the next photo shows my sister holding the broom, and me running away. The last photo shows my sister standing there holding a broom, that is holding a bowl full of water on the ceiling.

Journal - What photo editing tool(s) have you used so far on your 5 photos project? Do you like the tool? Is it easy to use? Hard to use? What's good about it? Whats bad about it? Give a detailed review of the tool.

The tool that I have used the most is the eraser tool. I like this tool because it allows people to remove the background of an image. There are different sizes that you can use. The only hard part is  when you have to erase the background near the part that you want to keep.

Journal - What are the pros and cons to photo editing? What are some examples of when photo editing is fun and appropriate? When can photo editing be inappropriate or too much?

The pro to photo editing, is that you can edit photos for free. The con is of photo editing is that it is hard for certain people. Photo editing can be fun, when you make something that its not, and when you add something random into it. I am not going to explain what can make a photo inappropriate, because every one knows.

Journal – What is your favorite web tool that we have used in class so far this year? Why is it your favorite web tool? What do you like about it? How can you use it again in the future?

My favorite web tool, is prezi. I enjoy prezi, because it's a different kind of presentation, and is very original. I use it for about every presentation for every class. I can use it in the future for presentations for college, and possibly jobs. I think prezi, can benefit everyone.

journal- tell em about your weekend

Over the weekend I did a lot. First I went camping at a place called monkey mountain. I don't know where it exactly is, but I know that it is no where near mountains. My troop found this place with a lot of big rocks, and we played hide and seek. The weather was very nice. I also watched the Chiefs game with my family. My family and I also went to an amazing restaurant, Corner Cafe, and that was the best meal I have had in a while.

Journal - What makes a presentation memorable? What makes a presentation stand out and not boring? How are you going to make your presentation better than anyone else? How will you make it unique? Explain.

A memorable presentation is one that the speaker is interactive with the crowd, and talks about an emotional subject that the people can relate to. A bad presentation is someone who has a boring voice. The speaker also has to have confidence. My presentation will be better, because I will have some emotional pictures.

Journal - What did you learn from the Ted Talk yesterday? Did you find it interesting or accurate? Explain.

I did find the Ted Talk interesting, like when she talked about kids need to be alone so they can be social. I also learned that people like to have control of a conversation, I realized that I also like to be in control of  a conversation.

Journal - What do you love about the "digital age" that we currently live in? What do you dislike about it? What are positives ways you use technology in your life? What are some things that come along with technology that you don't like? Explain.

The number one thing that I love about the "digital age" is that I can find any information really fast. When my parents were kids they had to look up everything in a book, but today we have the privilege to not do that. I also like how people can share information with one another, and upload videos for everyone to watch. Some positive ways I use technology, would be that I can communicate with my family, in case something goes wrong, I can research something, and I can get peoples opinions on stuff.

Journal - Tell me about your Homecoming weekend (whether you went to the activities or not!). Tell me about what you did over the weekend.

Over the weekend, I celebrated my dads and aunts birthday. We went to a texmex restaurant that I have forgot the name of. Then we went to my grandparents house and ate steak, and her homemade chocolate cake and ice cream. I did not go to homecoming, because I didn't ask anyone.

Journal - What do you know about infographic? What do you know about them? What are their purpose?

I do not know what an infographic is, but I would think that it is a picture that gives information, and could be on a billboard, or on TV. There purpose is probably to inform people.

Journal - Most students view siting work as 'a pain in the butt'. How do you feel about it? Is it necessary? When is it appropriate to cite work? What's the importance of it?

I do not think that citing work is that bad, it is easy, but just time consuming. I do believe that it is necessary, because if it's not your original work, you should not get the credit for it. It is necessary when you are doing a presentation, or when you mention something on a paper, or when you are giving a speech. The importance of citing your work is very high. You can get sued, if you don't site your work.

Journal - What is your favorite book, magazine, or publication? Why

My favorite magazine would have to be National Geographic. It is my favorite because, each month it talks about interesting stuff. My favorite issue would be the one where they talk about robots. There was a robot that could visually learn. It was very interesting. It was learning to shuffle cards. There was another robot that was  a nurse for a hospital. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable around it. National Geographic also has cool pictures in it .

Journal - Why is creating an outline for a paper important? Do you think it helps you personally? How would you prefer to outline a paper - pen and paper or an online tool? Is there a different way you know if that would prefer to organize your thoughts?

Outlines for papers are very helpful. It makes it easier to know what to write. I prefer to write outlines in pen and paper, because I will eventually forget my online tool password, and because, outlines are very short, so I could just write it on a note card. when I give speeches, I like to bullet point my main ideas, and just go from there.

Journal - Tell me about your weekend. Where did you go? What did you do?

This weekend, I didn't do much. for the most part I stayed home, and did homework. I did stay up late, to watch Lilo and Stitch, it has been a long time since I watched that. I watched the chiefs game yesterday, while I ate KFC. I watched a marathon of doomsday prepers. That is about all I did over the weekend. It was long and boring.

Journal - Who do you look up to in life? Why? What have they done to help you or guide you?

One person that I look up to in life, would be my uncle Larry. He is very cool, and is flipping awesome. He works for the boys and girls club. every where I go with him, theirs someone that he knows. He is friends with everyone. In my opinion if everyone were to be like him, than there would be no bully's nor judging. He's an inspiration to me.

Journal - What is good email etiquette and why is it essential in the "real" world? How can having good email etiquette put you ahead?

Good email etiquette is making your email polite and easy to read, getting right down to the chase, thanking them for there time, and leaving your name and information, to them. Good email etiquette is essential today, because every one uses emails, and you will need to email people in your life. Their are very few jobs that do not require an email address. Having good email etiquette can determine if you get that job or not, it can determine if your partner will make that deal, email etiquette is very important.

Journal - If there was one big global issue in the world that you could fix, what would it be? A cure for cancer? Save the rain forest? Stop pollution? Think about it and then write about it. Why would you choose that specific issue?

If I could fix one global issue, it would be to stop global warming. I would want to fix this, because it is raising our sea levels, melting the poles, and killing the animals that live there. It's also caused the weather to be messed up. It's also causing animals, to migrate to new lands, and it also causes acid rain, which kills plants and animals. I would change this by converting to alternative energy sources, like solar, wind, and hydro.

Who am I presentation

8/28/13

Journal - What are some qualities of a good presentation? How can you make a boring presentation interesting? Explain.

Presentations can be very entertaining, or very boring. There are some qualities that make a presentation good. First off, don't read things word for word, only say what you need to say. Second, add some pictures, give a visual for the people that you are presenting to. Third, have confidence, if you don't, it's going to feel very awkward. If you are presenting an idea, and if you can bring in an example, than you should, it will keep the audience very entertained. Finally, change up your voice.

Journal - Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted I should be able to use it.

I agree with the statement above. I agree with it for several reasons, the first being, if you don't want something to be shared, then you shouldn't have it on the internet. Secondly, imagine if you couldn't use images from the internet, then people would have to take a picture of what they want to present, and upload it, which would take a lot time. Thirdly if someone blogs about a picture, why wouldn't they want other people to use it as well, wouldn't that person, want their picture to be well known?

Journal - What is the importance of online safety and protecting your information? What do you do to protect yourself online? Share an experience you or someone you know has had with online safety

There are a lot of creepy people in this world, and these creepy people can find out a lot of information about people on the web. Which is why it is important to keep your information limited to what you share. There have been incidents where some kids put a lot of personal information online, like there school, than some creepy old guy comes and kidnaps them. scary stuff like this does happen, so it is very important to be smart on the web. Some stuff that I do online, is that I don't become friends with anyone I don't know. I'm also careful of what pictures I upload, so that I don't give any personal information, by my clothing, or the background. When I was seven, there was an online game called club penguin, and there was an option for free chat, which is you can say what you wan't, and my parents and I chose not to activate that option.

Journal - Tell me what you know about Web 2.0. List example Web 2.0 sites. Are you on any sites that let you “post” information? What are those sites? How often do you use them? What do you post on them?

Web 2.0 sites are websites that you can post information on. There are hundreds of websites like that, but some of the most popular websites would be "Facebook", "Twitter", and "MySpace", seriously millions of people use these sites. how ever there are web 2.0 tools that are not meant for socializing, like "Linoit", that is a website used for taking notes or reminders. One of the most common web 2.0 websites are E-mail accounts, like "Yahoo" or "G-Mail"There are also websites that you wouldn't think would be a web 2.0, but there actually are, like "Youtube". There are also online games that are web 2.0, like "Minecraft". I personally don't use that many web 2.0 tools, the ones that I do use are Yahoo mail, blogger, linoit, G-mail, and Youtube. I post several different things on those websites, but I ultimately decide by who I am communicating with.

Journal - After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you -"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."

I took a lot from watching Ashton Kutcher's speech, it made me realize new things. First off, it taught that to be successful in life, you have to work hard, and do your best. What good does it do if your not giving it 100%, you can't get better at something. Secondly it taught me that to be successful, you have to learn everyday, like he said "being sexy, is being smart". If I learn everyday, I will get better at what I do, and not repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Lastly, he taught me to be kind and generous. There is a saying, those who give will receive. If you are kind to someone, then they will be kind back.

What I think Ashton's quote "Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use." means, is that if you try hard enough, than you can change the way people live. If you give effort, than you can become extremely smart. You can influence people to becoming something. you can give your knowledge to someone else. That is what I think of Ashton's quote.
